Trailer: Pascal, Mendo, Cloud In “Freaky Tales”

Lionsgate has shared the official trailer for its action comedy anthology feature “Freaky Tales” which follows four inteconnected stories.

Set in 1987 Oakland, the film is a multi-track mixtape of colorful characters — an NBA star, a corrupt cop, a female rap duo, teen punks, neo-Nazis, and a debt collector – on a collision course in a fever dream of showdowns and battles.

Pedro Pascal, Ben Mendelsohn, Angus Cloud, Jay Ellis, Normani, Dominique Thorne, Jack Champion and Ji-young Yoo star.

In addition, there are cameos from Tom Hanks, Keir Gilchrist, Marteen, Michael X. Sommers, Yong Kim, Michelle Farrah Huang and Too $hort.

The film blends action, edgy humor, gory kills, and sly twists. As the trailer indicates, segments will vary in terms of aspect ratio and the way they’re shot – some digitally, some on film.

Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden (“Half Nelson,” “Captain Marvel”) write and direct the film which had its world premiere at last year’s Sundance Film Festival and is now scheduled to arrive in theaters on April 4th.
